Videalert Traffic Compliance (VTC)

VTC analyses CCTV images in real-time and automatically identifies illegal or unusual vehicle incidents. The system has been designed to be used in both an Attended and Unattended Mode.

In an attended operation, when an alert is detected there is a requirement for a CCTV operator to view the event in real-time and then confirm, having watched the video, that an offence has likely been committed. This can all be done from a single camera feed.

In unattended operation there is no requirement for any operator intervention. The difference is that a pair of cameras will used, one for the context view (CV) while the other camera will be focussed on a much smaller area, to capture the number plate, the close-up view (CUV). This second camera can be a normal one or an ANPR camera.

Post the capture of the event and the saving away of the CV, the processing is identical, namely that post-processing operators can then view the single or paired video and make a decision as to whether an offence has occurred and prepare further evidence data, like stills, store the VRM and complete the data to be delivered to the PCN processing system.

The system conforms to the current guidelines and codes of practice for CCTV enforcement cameras. VTC also supports the full range of moving traffic contraventions outlined in the Transport Management Act including bus lane infringement, banned turns, illegal waiting, illegal parking and box junctions, etc.

Key Features

  • Play, rewind, fast forward and thumbnail single or multichannel synchronised video for the incident, which allows operators to rapidly pinpoint the key frames in any video
  • Verify offences according to council and department policy, from a simple and quick ‘information at your fingertips’ dashboard, supporting policies that require an operator to confirm that an offence has occurred
  • Annotate and attach incident information, so that further information can be added and stored in a customisable data-base along with the incident
  • Capture the processed incident (stills and video) into a single encapsulated file, allowing the entire incident to be processed as a unit which can be archived or copied as needed
  • Seal and encrypt the encapsulated file, read-only to the system
  • An event list provides the operator with a concise view of incidents and their status, allowing fast and easy scanning of high numbers of incidents
  • As there is a legal requirement for an incident to be timed according to an MSF (Rugby) clock, VTC periodically synchronises the exact time
  • Flexible and customisable rules based engine for defining what constitutes an offence
  • Optional integration with ANPR to further reduce manual input and operator error
